In our commitment to modernizing educational resources and making science more accessible, the collaboration of the Horizon Europe projects H2start and HyAcademy in Bulgaria highlights key initiatives, such as the "Science in Sight" masterclass. Organized by H2Start at Trakia University, this event brought together over 100 participants, including teachers, undergraduate and PhD students, and administrative staff, with the help of HyAcademy Networks. The goals were to demonstrate in a masterclass how various AI tools can transform complex scientific subject matter into clear, engaging content. successfully
Expert Insights and New Skills
The training maintained a strong focus on practical outcomes. Participants had the valuable opportunity to develop their own ideas and create ready-made products applicable directly to their academic and professional activities. The masterclass program featured valuable guidance from established experts, which will be integrated into the development of HyAcademy:
Prof. Dr. Ani Zlateva from H2start presented the cognitive foundations of visualization and the importance of visual ethics. Her insights on the balance between aesthetics and scientific truth are critical when presenting hydrogen technologies to a broad audience. Participants also mastered methods for intelligent data analysis using NotebookLM.
Petar Teodosiev led practical sessions on creating professional scientific posters and presentations through Canva Magic Studio. He also demonstrated how ChatGPT can be used to build personalized applications to support students-ranging from flashcard generators to AI reviewers for coursework.
Application within HyAcademy
Disseminating these approaches into the HyAcademy Networks will bring significant benefits:
Interactive Learning Materials: Leveraging the expertise from the masterclass, we will transform complex processes in hydrogen production and storage into easy-to-visualize graphical resources.
AI Tools for Students: We plan to implement personalized AI assistants to help learners quickly master terminology and analyse scientific literature.
Effective Communication: Professionally formatting the project’s results will facilitate dialogue with the industry and make scientific achievements more applicable in the real sector.
The lectures triggered exceptional interest among the attendees, sparking lively discussions and inspiring them not only to apply these new technological solutions to their work but also to seek further opportunities to expand their knowledge in this field.
Due to the exceptional interest, project H2START will organize a second part of the masterclass this autumn, which will dive deeper into using AI tools for scientific and educational visualization. The training will be open to everyone interested.
The collaboration between H2Start and HyAcademy demonstrates how common efforts can increase the impact of bridging the gap between complex science and effective education. We are excited to implement these strategies to train the next generation of energy experts!
