HyAcademy and PermittHy Presented at Hydrogen UK Conference 2026

The Hydrogen UK Conference 2026 brought together key stakeholders from industry, academia, and government to discuss progress in hydrogen technologies and the development of the hydrogen economy. During the event,  the University of Birmingham presented two European projects  (HyAcademy and PermittHy) highlighting their contributions to hydrogen education, training, and regulatory capacity building.

The HyAcademy (European Hydrogen Academy) project aims to strengthen hydrogen-related skills across Europe by developing educational programmes, training materials, and mobility opportunities for students, researchers, and professionals. The initiative brings together universities, research centres, and industry partners to support workforce development and ensure that the next generation of engineers and specialists are equipped with the knowledge required for the growing hydrogen sector.

The PermittHy project focuses on addressing regulatory and permitting challenges associated with hydrogen infrastructure and projects across Europe. The project works to map permitting procedures in different countries, identify best practices, and develop training programmes for permitting authorities and stakeholders to support more efficient project approval processes.

Presenting these initiatives at the conference provided an opportunity to engage with the hydrogen community, share project objectives and progress, and strengthen collaboration with industry and policy stakeholders supporting the energy transition.
