Turning Classrooms into Racetracks: Students Build and Race Hydrogen Bolides at Horizon Grand Prix 2026!

The HyAcademy and H2START projects proudly support our partner, the educational organization "Technokrati" and the Bulgarian Federation of Automodel Sports in organizing the VI National Competition for Hydrogen-Powered Cars. Our partnership takes education beyond dry theory, focusing entirely on practical application and the "learning by doing" approach. Together, we transform science into an exciting, hands-on experience that inspires and prepares the next generation of engineers in Bulgaria.

The initiative proves its sustainability by being held for the sixth consecutive year and marks a true precedent with a record number of participants. Young talents from 14 schools and 10 cities across the country have invested months of hard work into extracurricular activities to construct and develop their 1:10 scale models themselves. These student teams (grades 8-12) will test their skills in a fierce 4-hour race for energy efficiency, and the winners will claim the grand prize – the honor of representing Bulgaria at the World Championship in Switzerland.

The grand finale will take place on May 30 (Saturday) at 10:00 AM at the "Mladost" sports hall in Burgas, with the strategic support of the Municipality of Burgas. Admission is completely free, and incredible technological surprises are prepared for all guests, including a demonstration of a real hydrogen car and an electric go-kart.
