This interactive cut-and-stick activity, developed by the HyAcademy.eu Project, introduces pupils to the different “colours” of hydrogen and the production methods associated with each one. Aimed primarily at learners aged 9–13, it encourages students to match hydrogen types with their production methods and carbon footprints, before using the accompanying teacher information sheet to discuss and explore the sustainability implications of each type. The activity helps learners understand why some forms of hydrogen, particularly those produced using renewable energy, are considered more desirable in the transition towards net-zero energy systems.
