This presentation on Simplified Fuel Cells is aimed at students aged 15-18, and was created as part of the HyAcademy.eu Project. The content details the general workings of fuel cells, with a specific focus on Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) and Alkaline fuel cells.
What a fuel cell is and its purpose are clearly defined, including overall and half cell equations. This content has been presented at a basic level so it can be taught to students with little prior knowledge of hydrogen, and generalises fuel cells so students understand its potential uses, and advantages and disadvantages.
A supporting worksheet to consolidate this content has also been developed by HyAcademy.eu, and can be found here. This worksheet is a series of questions that progress in the order that the content is delivered in the presentation so could also be completed in tandem.
