From March 9th to 14th 2025, the Fundación Caja Rural de Zaragoza hosted the first edition of Aragón’s Hydrogen Week, an event that highlighted the vital role of hydrogen technology in advancing decarbonisation and fostering new employment opportunities. During the event, Mar Vaquero, Vice President and Minister of Presidency, Economy, and Justice of the Government of Aragón, emphasized the region's leadership in promoting hydrogen as a key technological driver.
On March 14th, as part of the Hydrogen Minds: Disruptive Projects session, Gianluca Greco, Head of Consulting and Training, presented the HyAcademy project. His presentation shed light on the ambitious goals of this European initiative designed to revolutionize education in hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.
HyAcademy’s mission is to create a comprehensive educational ecosystem spanning across Europe. Central to this vision is the development of a web platform that provides access to a library of free educational materials while fostering an online community for teachers and students. The project will also design innovative teaching materials and methodologies to cover the entire hydrogen value chain, tailored for schools and universities.
The project's impact will be amplified through the establishment of collaborative networks, including over 100 universities and 500 schools, which will receive support through educational materials and program development guides. Additionally, a network of more than 5 practical laboratories will be created, facilitating resource sharing and hands-on learning opportunities.
Lastly, HyAcademy will lay the groundwork for the Net-Zero Hydrogen Academy by developing curricula and online tools, culminating in a pilot program that could potentially provide hydrogen technology knowledge to over 100,000 users.
With initiatives like this, HyAcademy reinforces its commitment to a sustainable future and to equipping new generations with the knowledge needed for the hydrogen-driven energy transition.
What is the importance of hydrogen technology in decarbonisation? How does HyAcademy support hydrogen education in Europe? What are the job opportunities in hydrogen technology?
